AIS SIGSAND

In March 2002 and April 2003, researchers in the area of Systems Analysis and Design (SA&D) met in Miami to discuss the state of research in this area. Attendees formed the consensus that SA&D lies in the ‘core’ of the Information Systems (IS) discipline, and as a consequence, research examining aspects of SA&D should be an integral part of IS research. A proposal for an AIS SIG on Systems Analysis and Design was developed and approved by the AIS Council in December 2003. The inaugural event of SIGSAND was held in June 2004 at Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada (http://www.busi.mun.ca/sigsand/) followed by the 4th symposium held in April 2005 at the University of Cincinnati. Several of the themes discussed at these events were further developed in Bajaj et. al. (2005)*.
